Five arrested, one charged with attempted murder after woman shot in Port Allen

Five suspects have been arrested and charged after a woman was shot multiple times early Sunday morning on Azalea Street in Port Allen, according to a statement from Police Chief Donovan V. Mitchell. The victim is in critical but stable condition.

A 25-year-old man faces two counts of attempted second-degree murder after a woman was shot multiple times in Port Allen early Sunday morning, according to an updated statement from Police Chief Donovan V. Mitchell.

Micah Brown, 25, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, aggravated criminal damage to property, and failure to report a felony. Four other suspects were arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and failure to report a felony:

  • Justin Wilson, 31
  • Serenity Spurlock, 19
  • Mandrell Spurlock, 21
  • Diamonque George, 24

All five were booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center.

Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Azalea Street around 5 a.m. on June 21 in response to a shooting complaint, according to the release. Shortly after, the victim relocated to the 3000 block of LA Highway 1 South RaceTrac, where officers made contact with her.

All five suspects have been arrested and charged. There are no outstanding suspects, and the area is deemed safe, according to PAPD.

A WBR Independent reporter was on scene as a tactical team from the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a residence near the intersection of Avenue G and Azalea Street. Officers in tactical gear and armed with rifles were observed advancing on the property as part of the investigation. Evidence markers were visible in the driveway.

Units from the Addis Police Department, including a K-9 unit, and the Brusly Police Department also assisted at the scene. Emergency medical services staged at a nearby AutoZone.

Chief Mitchell thanked the Addis Police Department, Brusly Police Department, and West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office for their assistance.

No further details have been released, including what led to the shooting or the identities of those arrested.
