A former teacher at First Baptist Church of Addis Christian Academy of Louisiana was arrested Thursday on charges of sexually abusing a juvenile student, Louisiana State Police announced Friday.

Brandon C. Greely, 48, of Baker, was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Correctional Center on charges of Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile and Indecent Behavior with Juveniles.

Greely's bond has been set at $150,000. A protective order has been issued prohibiting contact with the victims. Greely has since posted bond and been released.

In February 2025, Dennis "Clint" Kennamer Jr., a former volunteer soccer coach at the school, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for molestation of a juvenile and possession of child pornography.

The LSP Special Victims Unit, working with the FBI, opened an investigation in October 2025 after receiving a complaint about alleged sexual exploitation between a teacher and a juvenile student. Through witness interviews and what state police described as an in-depth investigation, detectives determined Greely engaged in sexual acts with the student.

First Baptist Church of Addis Christian Academy of Louisiana is a private school on Louisiana Highway 1 in Addis. The school serves students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and is certified by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

West Baton Rouge Parish Superintendent Chandler Smith told WAFB that Greely was not an employee of the public school system.

Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the school's operations, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that Greely served as the school's High School Proctor and Collegiate Minister. As proctor, Greely oversaw all high school students in a standalone building separate from the main school. The position did not require a teaching certification. Students learned through laptops under his supervision.

The sources said Greely also served as an assistant coach and began working at the school and church in 2021. Sources said he left the school before the end of 2023. The exact dates of the alleged offenses have not been released by law enforcement.

Records filed with the Louisiana Secretary of State show the First Baptist Church of Addis, Louisiana is a non-profit religious corporation chartered in 1958 at 6781 Highway 1 South in Addis — the same address as the school. Thomas Shepard is listed as president of the corporation. The church was previously known as New Hope Baptist Church of Addis until 1965 and absorbed The New Park Forest Baptist Church, Inc. through a merger in 2017.

Christian Academy of Louisiana does not have a separate corporate filing with the Secretary of State. The school's website links directly to the Church at Addis website, the church's public-facing name.

State police said the investigation is ongoing and additional victims are possible.

In a statement, Christian Academy of Louisiana confirmed Greely was a former employee. The school said it "has no knowledge of the underlying investigation" and outlined its general procedures for handling allegations, which include conducting an internal investigation with its security team before notifying law enforcement.

The statement said the school's security team "includes law enforcement or retired law enforcement personnel."

Shepard, in an earlier phone call with WBR Independent, disputed the identification of the school and demanded a retraction. He did not answer questions about Greely's employment or the investigation. The school's statement, issued hours later, confirmed Greely's employment.

In a separate statement posted to the Church at Addis Facebook page Saturday evening, Willis issued a press release on behalf of Shepard, the Church at Addis, and Christian Academy of Louisiana. The statement said they "categorically deny any allegations of wrongdoing" and reserved all legal rights against anyone "responsible for originating, publishing, republishing, or otherwise disseminating false or defamatory statements."

The statement asked anyone with information about statements concerning Shepard, the church, or the school to contact Willis directly.
