An Addis man was arrested Tuesday evening after a domestic disturbance that left a woman with stab wounds on Benoit Drive in the Sugar Mill Plantation subdivision, the Addis Police Department said.

Braylon Oneil Duffy has been booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on multiple criminal charges related to the incident, according to a department media release.

Officers responded to Benoit Drive at approximately 4:36 p.m. after reports of a domestic disturbance involving an aggravated assault. They found the victim suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency medical personnel treated her on scene before transporting her to a local hospital, the release said.

Duffy fled the area on foot before officers arrived, according to the release. After an extensive search, officers located and arrested him without incident.

Addis Police Chief Jason Langlois, who was attending a law enforcement conference at the time, said the dispute involved dating partners. The victim was cut while trying to retrieve a knife during the altercation, Langlois said.

The investigation remains active.

The filing of criminal charges constitutes allegations only. The suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
