Red, White and 250: Your Guide to Fourth of July in West Baton Rouge Parish

West Baton Rouge Parish residents won't have to go far to celebrate America's 250th birthday this Fourth of July.

Port Allen July 4th Fest

The centerpiece of WBR's Independence Day weekend is the annual Port Allen July 4th Fest, returning Saturday, July 4, to downtown Port Allen. The free, family-friendly celebration is presented by West Baton Rouge Parish Parks & Recreation and the City of Port Allen.

The evening kicks off at 5 p.m. with a youth showcase from Port Allen's own Rockin' Mozart School of Music through 6:30 p.m. Swamp Pop favorites Ryan Foret & Foret Tradition headline from 7 to 10 p.m.

Kids and families can enjoy face painting, space walks, a magic show, games, and food vendors throughout the evening. Fireworks light up the sky at 9 p.m.

The fest takes place at Old Ferry Landing, 198-100 S. River Road in Port Allen. Bring lawn chairs and patriotic spirit.

Fireworks Rules Across WBR

Town of Brusly: Fireworks may be discharged July 3 and July 4 from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. only. No fireworks at St. James Park. Fireworks discharged outside these windows are subject to confiscation.

Town of Addis: Fireworks are allowed during the Fourth of July weekend. The town's noise ordinance goes into effect at midnight.

City of Port Allen: No popup fireworks are allowed within city limits.

Unincorporated WBR: Fireworks are generally permitted.

Safety Reminders from Sheriff Bergeron

Sheriff Jeff Bergeron and the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office are encouraging residents to celebrate safely. The department reminds residents to use fireworks outdoors in a clear, open area, light one at a time, never relight a dud, keep children at a safe distance, and keep water nearby. Soak used fireworks before disposing of them.

The Sheriff's Office also asks residents to be considerate of pets, veterans, and others who may be sensitive to loud noises. If your celebration includes alcohol, plan ahead and designate a sober driver.

Celebrations Beyond the Parish
