# Prairieville Woman Arrested After Hitting Golf Cart With Two Kids in Brusly, Having SUV Towed Out of Parish

**BRUSLY** — A Prairieville woman has been arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run and obstruction of justice after she struck a golf cart carrying two 13-year-old girls in Brusly on Saturday, then had the vehicle towed out of the parish, the Brusly Police Department announced Sunday.

Adriel Nicole Smith, 38, was served with an arrest warrant after making a full confession to officers with the Brusly Police Department and the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, according to the department.

Smith faces one count of felony hit-and-run driving under Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:100 and one count of obstruction of justice under Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:130.1.

The crash occurred at the intersection of West Saint Francis Street and Elaine Street near Alexander Park at approximately 2:19 p.m. Saturday. Police said Smith's silver Mercedes SUV struck a golf cart occupied by two juveniles. Both sustained minor injuries.

Smith left the scene without stopping to make contact or render aid, police said.

Investigators used footage from the department's Crime Prevention and Detection camera system to identify the SUV and track its movements after the collision. Police said Smith then had the vehicle towed out of the parish.

Officers identified the vehicle and its registered owner on Sunday, tracing it to an address in Prairieville. Brusly police and the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office made contact with Smith, who confessed, according to the department.

Smith is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
