BRUSLY — Brusly police are actively looking for the driver of a silver Mercedes SUV who struck a golf cart carrying two 13-year-old girls near Alexander Park on Saturday and left the scene without stopping.

Assistant Chief Tom Southon confirmed the incident to WBR Independent, describing it as a hit-and-run involving a silver Mercedes SUV and a golf cart operated by two 13-year-old girls on West Main Street. Southon said the department is actively looking for the driver. No injuries were reported.

A family member gave a more detailed account, telling WBR Independent that the two girls were riding the golf cart near the park along West Saint Francis Street when the cart turned onto Elaine Street from West Saint Francis Street. The family member said the Mercedes SUV attempted to pass the golf cart, struck it, and sent both girls off the cart.

"They flew off the golf cart and was almost ran over," the family member said.

The SUV's tires left the roadway during the collision and the driver continued without stopping or slowing, the family member said.

The golf cart, a blue EZGO, sustained significant damage in the crash.

The family member said the SUV had damage to its front passenger side.
